The Seahawks signed Mitchell as an undrafted free agent Friday, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Analysis: Mitchell caught 19 passes for 257 yards and four touchdowns during his final campaign at Florida Atlantic. The collegiate wideout is now listed as a tight end, so it appears Pete Carroll and company have plans to transition the 6-foot-4, 228 pass catcher to the trenches to start his NFL career.

Analysis: Robertson caught 37 passes for 489 yards and four touchdowns during his final campaign at Auburn. The 6-foot wideout figures to compete during training camp with Jake Herslow, who also signed as an undrafted free agent.

The Seahawks signed Herslow as an undrafted free agent Friday, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Analysis: Herslow caught 31 passes for 423 yards and four touchdowns during his final campaign at Houston. the 6-foot wideout will likely compete during training camp with Demetris Robertson, who was also signed as an undrafted free agent.

The Seahawks signed Brewer as an undrafted free agent Friday, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Analysis: Brewer caught 22 passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns during his final campaign at Texas. The 6-foot-4 tight end will likely compete with John Mitchell, who was also signed as an undrafted free agent.
Projected to start in 2022

Barton is projected to start at linebacker in 2022 after the Seahawks didn't choose a linebacker during the 2022 NFL Draft, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Seahawks had a lot of needs heading into the draft and apparently felt comfortable with Barton as their starting linebacker next to Jordyn Brooks. If Barton can hold off any unexpected challengers, he'll have an opportunity to be a high-end IDP contributor for fantasy purposes. After all, both Brooks and Bobby Wagner -- who is now with the Rams -- topped 170 tackles last year.
Inks UDFA deal

The Seahawks signed Lewis as an undrafted free agent Tuesday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Lewis was a three-year starter at Louisiana where he set the school record with 74 passing touchdowns in addition to 9,208 passing yards. He'll compete with Drew Lock, Geno Smith and Jacob Eason for a roster spot. Checking in at 5-foot-10, 184 pounds, Lewis is considered a longshot to secure a spot on the active roster.
Finds home in Seattle

The Seahawks signed Jones on Tuesday, John Boyle of Seahawks.com reports.
Analysis: Jones appeared in four games for Seattle last season after coming over from Indianapolis. The 2017 second-round pick has struggled to carve out a consistent role during his NFL career, but he continues to garner opportunities. He'll likely compete for a depth role in the Seahawks' secondary during the 2022 campaign.
Has fifth-year option declined
Mon, May 2, 2022, 10:51 PM
The Seahawks didn't pick up the fifth-year option on Collier's rookie contract Monday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Barring further contract negotiations, Collier will become a free agent after the 2022 season. He appeared in 10 games for Seattle in 2021, collecting eight tackles (three solo) and one pass defensed.
DK Metcalf
D.K. Metcalf Ditches walking boot
Mon, May 2, 2022, 4:23 PM
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll confirmed Saturday that Metcalf no longer is using a walking boot to protect his surgically repaired left foot, Liz Mathews of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Carroll also noted that Metcalf has resumed running, though presumably not yet at 100 percent after he underwent foot surgery in February. The 24-year-old is expected to continue his rehab into the spring, so he may not be fully cleared before OTAs come to an end. Metcalf should be at or near full strength by training camp in late July, if not minicamp in mid-June, when he and Tyler Lockett will headline a new-look Seattle passing game that will be helmed by a yet-to-be-determined starter following Russell Wilson's move to Denver earlier in the offseason. The Seahawks didn't add to the position group through the draft over the weekend, tentatively leaving Drew Lock, Geno Smith and Jacob Eason to compete for the starting job.
Jacob Eason
Jacob Eason Likely aiming for backup duties
Sun, May 1, 2022, 11:49 AM
Eason is expected to compete for the backup quarterback job after Seattle didn't draft a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Washington product was picked by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but he has thrown just five regular-season passes. Drew Lock and Geno Smith are expected to be the main candidates for the starting quarterback job, and Eason likely would need to overperform to have a true shot at the starting gig. However, Eason is a prototypical quarterback, as he stands at 6-foot-6, 227 pounds and has a cannon for an arm. It wouldn't be surprising if the Seahawks kept him around as the No. 3 quarterback with hopes the 24-year-old can develop into a suitable NFL quarterback.
Geno Smith
Geno Smith Competing for starting job
Sun, May 1, 2022, 11:40 AM
Smith is expected to compete with Drew Lock and Jacob Eason for the starting quarterback job after the Seahawks didn't select a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Seahawks decided to use all nine of their draft picks to reinforce other positions, signaling that they're content with letting Smith, Lock and, to a lesser extent, Eason battle for the starting job this summer. Smith, 32, played four games (three starts) while Russell Wilson was rehabbing a finger injury last season. He won just one game and completed 68.4 percent of his passes for 702 yards (7.4 YPA), five touchdowns and an interception while adding another 42 yards and a score on the ground.
Drew Lock
Drew Lock Survives draft day
Sun, May 1, 2022, 11:24 AM
Lock is expected to compete with Geno Smith and Jacob Eason for the starting quarterback job after the Seahawks didn't select a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: There was only one quarterback drafted in the first 73 picks, and despite having four picks in that stretch, the Seahawks opted to upgrade their offensive line and add a high-end running back and edge rusher. That's good news for Lock, who was part of the trade package that the Seahawks received for Russell Wilson. Lock has a big arm but was mediocre over 24 games (21 starts) with the Broncos over the last three years, completing 59.3 percent of his passes for 4,740 yards (6.7 YPA), 25 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. He also ran for 285 yards and five scores. Unless the Seahawks bring in Baker Mayfield via trade or a veteran in free agency, the main competition in training camp will be between Lock and Smith while Eason makes a longshot bid.
Big-bodied WR nabbed by Seattle

The Seahawks selected Young in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 233rd overall.
Analysis: Young checked in at an imposing 6-foot-3, 220 pounds in addition to plus athleticism with a 4.47 40-yard dash and a 37-inch vertical. He carried the ball more than he was targeted in his first few seasons at Division II Lenoir-Rhyne, but he transitioned to being a full-time receiver over his final two seasons, as he recorded 39 receptions for 521 yards and six touchdowns over just seven games. Young will need some time to develop after playing Division II football, but his unique tools could be enough to secure one of Seattle's final roster spots in the fall.

The Seahawks selected Melton in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 229th overall.
Analysis: A five-year receiver at Rutgers, Melton's stat lines are unconvincing at face value. However, he was the motor of an otherwise putrid Scarlet Knights offense. He stacked up 1,250 receiving yards over his final two seasons while Rutgers' offense finished with just 4,027 passing yards in that span. Melton answered the call at the NFL Combine, too, recording a 4.34 40-yard dash and a 38-inch vertical at 5-foot-11, 189 pounds. Still, his best path to the field will be through special teams, as DK Metcalf (foot) and Tyler Lockett are the clear alpha wideouts in what is shaping up to be a run-heavy offense.
Seattle swoops in

The Seahawks selected Smith in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 158th overall.
Analysis: Seattle continues to target defense on Day 3 by adding Smith after nabbing secondary help earlier in the day. Smith is a defensive end out of Ohio State who was a blue-chip recruit out of high school. He registered 8.0 sacks during his time as a Buckeye and uses his speed to fuel his pass-rush plan. Smith can rotate with L.J. Collier at defensive end in Seattle.
Converted CB packs bags for Seattle

The Seahawks selected Woolen in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 153rd overall.
Analysis: Woolen was a three-star recruit as a wide receiver out of high school, and he even had an offer to play for Matt Rhule at Baylor. However, he chose the University of Texas-San Antonio. He never got his footing as a receiver and made the switch to cornerback late in the 2019 season. Woolen ended up playing 20 games (16 starts) at corner over his final two seasons at UTSA. While he's still raw at a technical level, he has tools you can't teach, as he ran a 4.26 40-yard dash and added a 42-inch vertical while measuring in at 6-foot-4, 205 pounds. Woolen should have a locked-in spot on special teams as Pete Carroll's staff tries to develop him into an NFL cornerback.

The Seahawks selected Bryant in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 109th overall.
Analysis: Bryant joins the Seahawks after five seasons at Cincinnati, where he played across from Ahmad Gardner, who went fourth overall to the Jets. Bryant performed well in his final season, earning First Team All-American honors while recording 46 tackles, a team-high 14 pass breakups and three interceptions. The Seahawks' secondary is wide open, so Bryant could compete for a starting job right away.
Chris Carson
Chris Carson Return remains uncertain
Sat, Apr 30, 2022, 10:40 AM
Head coach Pete Carroll didn't provide a timeline for Carson's (neck) return to full speed, Gregg Bell of The News Tribune reports. "We won't know for some time here, and we can't predict it yet. So there is a little bit of uncertainty that we are waiting on," Carroll said.
Analysis: The Seahawks' decision to draft running back Kenneth Walker in the second round (41st overall) of the NFL Draft after already signing Rashaad Penny to a one-year deal should make us more wary of Carson's health than any of Carroll's press conference. Carson is still recovering from November neck surgery, and he wasn't guaranteed the starting role even before the draft. The 27-year-old simply can't match the explosiveness of Penny or Walker, so if he's able to make a return, his impact for fantasy is suspect.

Penny will have more competition in training camp after the Seahawks selected Kenneth Walker in the second round (41st overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Prior to the draft, Penny's main competition was set to be Chris Carson, but the Seahawks have hinted that they have doubts about Carson's ability to return from a neck injury, Gregg Bell of The News Tribune reports. Penny has never had a fully healthy season, either. Thus, it's not surprising that the Seahawks utilized a draft pick to bring in another running back, but utilizing this high of a pick signals that the Seahawks believe Walker can be their starter at some point. Nevertheless, it's Penny's job to lose. His production last season was undisputable, as he rumbled for 692 total yards and six touchdowns over the final five games. If Penny can stay healthy, we may witness a situation similar to 2018 when Penny was a rookie first-round pick but Carson -- the second-year player -- never gave up the starting job.
O-line add for Seattle

The Seahawks selected Lucas in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 72nd overall.
Analysis: Lucas looks like a nice pick for the Seahawks. The Washington State product played at right tackle in college and will likely stay there for the Seahawks with first-round pick Charles Cross on the left side. Lucas is incredibly athletic, boasting a 4.92-second 40 and excellent quickness at 6-foot-6, 315 pounds.
